Do you know these people who hunger for truth but seldom like the taste when it’s served?
It’s funny because we all want to be honest and want people to be honest with us. We want them to tell us the truth. The problem is: we do not start with ourselves. Being honest with yourself is where it all starts.
In the words of Mahatma Ghandi: “Be the change you want to see in the world”. But how do we do that?
We do that by telling ourselves the truth about ourselves. If we do not do that, we will end up living in self deception, trying to convince ourselves of things not pertaining to us, trying to become who we are not supposed to be, trying to copy others.
In as much as that is the truth, it comes with one condition: We must love the truth more than we love ourselves.
Telling yourself the hard core truth about you, who you are, what you do, why you do what you do, and where that comes from – without blaming anyone – is tough! It may even break you to admit the inner hidden truths of yours. Telling yourself the truth about yourself is like being naked – before yourself, before God. However, this experience will help you be real with yourself and, consequently, implement adequate steps of growth for your life, for you to attain your goals in the most realistic way. It is self repentance, it is repentance before God.
One may wonder, what it is like to come or talk to God. Well, there you have the answer. You gotta be REAL! Real, honest, open, and truthful about yourself and what is hidden in your heart, your mind and your soul – no matter how ugly that truth may be. Knowing what is in your heart will give you the information you need to change yourself. This is your road to freedom and self acceptance!
Purity is, when we open our hearts to the truth about ourselves. When we come as we are, when we admit we are not perfect, when we acknowledge that we are neither superior nor inferior to others. When we love others as we love ourselves with perfect, heavenly love.
Without truth, we walk in darkness. Because truth is light, truth is understanding, truth is knowledge and truth is freedom.
Keep in mind: If you do not tell the truth about yourself you cannot tell it about other people. Make it your habit to tell yourself and others the truth. Remember that, first, the truth will probably piss you off. But in the end, it will set you free. You deserve that freedom. Seek it. And you will find.
