There is a phrase I once heard that I cannot stop thinking about ever since.
It says “The wealthiest place in the road is not the gold mines of South America or the oil fields of Iraq or Iran. They are not the diamond mines in South Africa or the banks of the world. The wealthiest place on the plant is just down the road. It is the cemetery. There lie buried companies that were never started, inventions that were never made, bestselling books that were never written, and masterpieces that were never painted. In the cemetery is buried the greater treasure of untapped potential.”
Myles Munroe once made that statement. It makes me ask myself if we truly aim to make the graveyard richer and richer with every death that takes place on this earth?
Everyone of us has a story. We all have something to say, something to contribute, something that will add value. What is YOUR story?
Have you ever asked yourself why you went through what you went through? Why it was YOUR family that had to struggle so much in life, while others always seemed to have a blast? Why that sickness? Why your friends, why your neighbours, why your country, why… you?
Even if you do not know the reason, face the following fact: You are here, reading this. You made it this far. This here is a chance. A chance not to enrich the graveyard, but to deposit that which is inside of you on this earth. And to enrich the world instead.
If you came this far, someone somewhere with a similar story could know that they can too. They can come out of their situation, they can grow, they can heal, they can smile again. But you have to show them. Tell them. And help them.
Imagine if all we did and all we had was to the benefit of the person next to us – our fellow human beings. Imagine that for a moment. How would the world look like? Or, not even the world, but your country? Or your city. Your community? Your neighborhood? Imagine if your gifts, talents and experiences were not only to make you who you are, but to help someone else become who they are supposed to be? That your story, your experience, your knowledge, your life could actually encourage, heal, strengthen or even save a life or more?
What is your story?
